Adapted from Easy Fish Pie recipe on BBC Good Food

Our boys absolutely loved the original version of this fish pie, and over the years we’ve tweaked it here and there, adding prawns, and butter to the mash (yum!). You can also mix in some sweet potato to the mash, which tastes great and adds a bit of extra nutrition to the dish.

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C/180°C fan.
  2. Boil the potatoes for around 15 minutes until tender, then mash with a bit of butter and a spash of milk if you like.
  3. Put the butter, flour and spring onions in a large saucepan on a medium heat. Melt the butter, then cook, stirring, for 2-3 minutes. Gradually add the milk, whisking to avoid lumps, then continue to cook for another few minutes allowing the sauce to thicken.
  4. Next mix in the fish, prawns, mustard, sweetcorn, peas and snip in the chives. Give it a good stir then take off the heat and spoon into an oven safe dish.
  5. Top with the mashed potato, using a fork to spread it out nicely, then sprinkle over the grated cheese.
  6. Bake in the oven for 25 minutes until delicious, and serve with some veg on the side.
